Opava Eventing is offering three Specialty Camps, two Beginner Horse Camps, and one Adult Horse Camp for the summer of 2017!

Bring your own horse, or use one of our school horses.

















Dressage Camp                                               June 26 - 30, 2017

Requirements:  Proficiency in walk/trot/canter

9 AM – 3 PM                            
Monday – Friday

$400/wk on school horse
$300/wk on own horse
$50/wk for overnight stabling Monday thru Friday (horse owner must provide their own feed)

Monday – connection, forward and relaxation
Tuesday – transitions, quality of gates
Wednesday – lateral movements
Thursday – test patterns
Friday – riding a judged test, get feedback, and ride the test again in front of the judge

Study includes:  learning rules, understanding equipment, preparation for events
Learning:  to pull manes, clip horses, braid for dressage


 
Jumping Camp                                              July 10 - 14, 2017

 Requirements:  Proficiency in walk/trot/canter and at minimum low level jumping.  Instruction offered from introductory to 1.10 M.

9 AM – 3 PM                            
Monday – Friday

$400/wk on school horse
$300/wk on own horse
$50/wk for overnight stabling Monday thru Friday (horse owner must provide their own feed)

Monday – flat work
Tuesday – ground poles and cavalettis
Wednesday –grids
Thursday – course work
Friday – multi level show jumping competitions

Study includes:  learning rules, understanding equipment, preparation for events
Learning:  to pull manes, clip horses, braid for hunters and jumpers

Eventing Camp                                              July 25 - 28, 2017

Requirements:  Proficiency in walk/trot/canter and at minimum low level jumping.  Instruction offered from introductory to training level.


9 AM – 3 PM                            
Monday – Friday

$400/wk on school horse
$300/wk on own horse
$50/wk for overnight stabling Monday thru Friday (horse owner must provide their own feed)

Monday – dressage basics
Tuesday – ground poles and cavalettis
Wednesday – jumping
Thursday –cross country
Friday – mini-derby show: dressage test then jumping with stadium and cross country obstacles

Study includes:  learning rules, understanding equipment, preparation for events
Learning:  to pull manes, clip horses, braid for eventing


Beginner Horse Camp I                  June 19 - 23


For children who have never or very rarely ridden before.  Each day students will learn about horses, how to handle and lead horses, groom horses, tack up and ride horses.  We have wonderful games we play on horse back, and even some team fun!


Opava Equestrian has a number of great lesson horses available.  But if a camper has their own horse they are encouraged to bring their horse to camp too!!  Trailer in or special boarding arrangements can be made.


9 AM – 12 noon
Monday – Friday

 $300/week

Beginner Horse Camp II                  July 17 - 21, 2017

For children who have ridden and can walk and trot, and perhaps canter.  Each day includes riding plus students will continue or review their knowledge about horses and their abilities to work around horses.  We expand their riding horizons while still playing great horseback games and encouraging team skills.


Opava Equestrian has a number of great lesson horses available.  But if a camper has their own horse they are encouraged to bring their horse to camp too!!  Trailer in or special boarding arrangements can be made.


9 AM – 12 noon
Monday – Friday

 $300/week

Adult Horse Camp                                    August 4 - 6, 2017

This camp is specifically for adults 21 years of age and older.  Geared to the working and/or family adult, it is a weekend off for horse fun, relaxation and equestrian education.  Campers are encouraged to bring their horse with them to camp!  Special boarding arrangements will be available. 


$350 - includes all meals, adult beverages, instructions, speakers and activities
$10/night - guest stabling


Times:
          5 PM – 9 PM Friday
          8 AM - 9 PM Saturday
          9 AM – 6 PM Sunday

Friday –          5:00 PM - 6:00 PM                               Arrivals and the "Meet and Greet Fellow Campers" cocktail hour

                        6:00 PM - 9:00 PM                               Dinner and guest speaker


Saturday –      8:00 AM to 12 noon                             Riding Instruction - may be broken up into 2 groups
                        12:00 PM to 1:30 PM                           Lunch
                        1:30 PM to 3:00 PM                             Activities - swimming/pool time, massages, arts and crafts
                        3:00 PM to 5:00 PM                             Guest speaker - TBD (vet/guest trainer/equine specialist)
                        5:00 PM to 6:30 PM                             Dinner
                        6:30 to 8:00 PM                                   Trail ride
